About the Business
After Charmaine's hours at the charity she worked for were reduced from 30 hours per week to just 4 on her return from maternity leave she was left with a need to bring in an extra income so she took her love of food and her self-taught skills of baking and decorating and launched her business Charmaine's Cupcakes in October 2010.
With the addition of the Giant Cupcake at the beginning of 2011 and then the Cup-O-Cake 'The Original Cupped Cake' in July of the same year, the business has gone from strength to strength with Charmaine's Cupcakes receiving both regional and national press coverage.
After providing Box Parties for Virgin Media to help celebrate their 5th birthday at the beginning of 2012, Charmaine's Cupcakes felt the need to re-brand to allow growth within the business to encompass new products. After a lot of market research it was decided to rename the company By Charmaine, a vintage candy cart was handcrafted and delivered in May 2012 and Candy Buffets & Dessert Tables were added to the range.
Since August 2011 By Charmaine has been involved in some exciting events that include being a finalist at the prestigious National Cupcake Championships, the V Festival VIP Louder Lounge, MADE: Entrepreneur Festival, the launch of Sam and Billie Faiers (The Only Way is Essex) Minnies Boutique online shop, the Virgin Media Shorts Awards and most recently Britains Got Talent.
